A Short Delay but Back on Track

Anyone who has undertaken a building project knows only too well that not everything runs smoothly!

After a slight hiatus – due to circumstances definitely beyond our control – we are now back on track with the Dust Control Environmental Big build.

The extension to the factory has moved onto the next stage. All the old concrete has been “pecked” out with rubble removal making way for the new foundations.

Coming soon – piling and pouring!

Demolition Accomplished

This week the weather was on the side of the contractors for the next stage of the DCE Big Build. Which was all about raising to the ground rather than building up – for now!

The “lean-to” has successfully been demolished to make room for the foundations of the larger, higher extension. First the roof was removed and the supporting walls quickly followed.

The next few days will see the mundane but important work of clearing and excavating, ready for commencing the foundations.

The week has also given us our first “before and after” pictures.

The “Lean-To” Must Go!

With the old shipping container now removed (a surprisingly exciting watch!), the tidy up of the rear of the building has been carried out, making way for the next stage – demolition!

The adjoining “lean-to”, single storied structure at the rear of the main factory has to go – making way for our brand new 8-metre-high extension.

But before the excitement of the demolition gets underway – safety first.

Protecting the live factory and our work engineers, the team from S P Fields (Contractors) Ltd have done a sterling job in erecting timber hoarding to effectively seal off the construction area.

First Phase of Dust Control Environmental Expansion Plans has Dramatic Start

The first phase of Dust Control Environmental’s (DCE) expansion of its premises has got underway with a definite wow moment!

The removal of, an inherited, old, container, at the back of the original fabrication warehouse was required for the extension build to commence. And there was only one way that the container was going to be moved – up and over the building’s roof. Faultlessly executed by the expert team from Emsley Crane Hire of Harrogate, the removal now allows DCE to forge on with the build.

The expansion of DCE’s Wakefield based premises is part of their continual business growth plans. Having, in the previous financial year, invested in the right people, the next obvious step is to invest in new equipment and infrastructure. This will enhance production capability, quality control, and operational efficiency.
This strategic investment also supports improved reliability for customers, giving Dust Control Environmental greater control over scheduling and production standards while enabling the business to respond more quickly to demand. The reconfiguration of the premises will also free up valuable assembly space, allowing for a more streamlined workflow and increased capacity for future growth.

Dust Control Environmental Managing Director, Martin Gill, commented “It’s great to see the work beginning on the new factory extension, and in such a memorable way. Not only does this building expansion represent a significant step forward for Dust Control Environmental’s growth strategy, but it also reinforces our commitment to manufacturing in Wakefield.”

The build project is scheduled to finish Summer 2026 with regular updates on progress being posted on DCE’s website and social feeds.
