DCE Dust Extraction Enhances Air Quality at a health supplement manufacturer

Introduction

Dust Control Environmental helped a health supplement, food and vitamins manufacture to address their need for a replacement dust extraction system that would fulfill their particular requirements.

Project Requirements

With a diverse product line encompassing a wide range of vitamin and supplement formulations, a dust extraction system which was capable of handling various types of dust without compromising the product integrity was needed.

Equally critical, the safety of the workforce, necessitating a system that not only removes airborne dust produced during manufacturing but also to function safely and compliantly in an environment with combustible dust risks.

The transition from the retired system to the new DCE one needed to be as seamless as possible, with considerations given to preventing moisture accumulation during operation.

How DCE met the Requirements

DCE, responding to the unique requirements, supplied and installed their Typhoon 8 extraction system designed to maximise air quality by the efficient control of operational airborne dust levels. Featuring explosion dampers offering ATEX certification ensuring safe operation in line with HSG 258 guidance.

The Typhoon 8 utilised an energy saving inverter controlled fan assembly which gives operatives full control over the extraction rate.

The install was completed with precision duct work and the system fully lagged and clad.

The Benefits

The implementation of Dust Control Environmental’s Typhoon 8 dust collector will provide significant benefits.

The advanced extraction capabilities of the Typhoon 8 series will contribute to a healthier work environment with the ATEX explosion damper modifications complying with stringent safety regulations required in a combustible dust environment.

Giving operatives control over the extraction system will allow it to run in accordance with the type of product in production, reducing the fan speed when needed so as not to affect the product finish. This capability will also provide the client with energy savings helping to reduce their environmental footprint.

The integration of the new system with existing controls has contributed to a smooth transition, minimizing downtime whilst the lagging and cladding of the scheme will protect against moisture ingress helping to reduce maintenance costs.
